Every campaign takes an endurance race and turns it into real dollars for vetted 501(c)(3) causes. Here's what's on the board.
My first full Ironman, and my brother Jake's. 140.6 miles across swim, bike and run in a single day. The goal is $25 a mile, which comes to $3,515, split evenly between two causes and carried the whole way.
Both are registered 501(c)(3) organizations. Each receives half of every dollar.
Crux Wilderness works with veterans, military members and their families. Their stated mission is to provide sustainable long term strategies for physical and mental health by engaging in outdoor activities.
In practice that means climbing, and most of it is free. They run up to four free rock climbing clinics a month, free alpine trips in June, July and August, and clinics four times a year where veterans and military members bring their families out with them. Their guides are veteran led, and whether you are new to climbing or already experienced they meet you where you are and bring gear if you need it.
The instruction is the point. Their program is built around education in rock and alpine climbing so that people feel confident climbing outdoors with their own friends and family, not only alongside a guide. In 2025 they ran 43 free clinics and served 192 veterans.
Border Animal Mission is an animal rescue and rehabilitation organization working in underserved communities along the Mexico and Texas border. Their stated mission is to end the suffering and overpopulation of animals there through immediate, accessible services: low cost spay and neuter, comprehensive vaccinations, and safe, effective relocation.
Around those three they run rescue transports, microchipping and a foster program. It is run by Chris and Jesse Halprin, who built the whole thing by hand.
Campaign 001 is hosted on Border Animal Mission's GiveButter page. Every gift is split evenly between Border Animal Mission and Crux Wilderness, and Border Animal Mission issues the tax receipts. None of it funds the race and none of it goes to the athlete.
